2026 Computer Engineer Spring Co-Op - Annapolis Junction MD
Job Description
Northrop Grumman is seeking Computer Engineers for a Spring 2026 Full-Time Co-Op opportunity. This position will be located in-person at our Mission Systems Sector in Annapolis Junction, MD.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Microelectronics Center (NGMC), Microelectronics Design & Applications (MDA) business unit. MDA is leading efforts to transform computing, combining the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop revolutionary energy-efficient computing systems. You will work in a fast-paced team environment alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers to make these next generation processing solutions a reality.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the design and development of complex high speed digital circuit card assemblies integrating FPGAs and microprocessors through high-speed serial networks
• See designs from concept through schematic capture, layout, assembly, debug, and production test
• Collaborate with peers and other engineering disciplines in the planning, design, and prototyping of complex digital systems
• Help identify and implement risk-reduction activities for projects
• Learn to define system specifications from dynamic, loose requirements
Basic Qualifications:
A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
• Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full-time in Spring 2026
• Be majoring in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Microelectronic Engineering, or other closely related STEM field
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the Spring 2026 semester (approximately January - May)
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
• The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
• Classes/project experience related to FPGAs, DDR memory, high-speed Serializer Deserializer (SERDES), and/or microprocessors
• Classes/project experience related to microprocessors or microcontrollers
• Hands-on use of laboratory test equipment such as: oscilloscopes, function generators, DMM, BERT scopes, network analyzers, or signal analyzers
• Familiarity with schematic capture and layout using Mentor Graphics Xpedition tools
• Familiarity with high-speed digital signal integrity simulation using Hyperlynx, HFSS, or ADS
• Experience developing embedded software and software using C, C++
• Experience in RTL development using SystemVerilog
• Familiarity with AMD FPGAs and design tools
At Northrop Grumman, our co-op pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the co-op is considered technical or administrative.
Bachelor's (including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master's program in Fall 2026): $25.75 - $31.75/hour
Master's: $37.25 - $39.00/hour
