POSITION SUMMARY:The Ensemble Department is seeking a bass player to accompany students in ensemble classes. The guitarist will act as part of the \"house band\" for regularly scheduled Ensemble Department classes and periodic additional accompanying assignments for recitals, concerts, auditions, and special events.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Music (preferred, but not required)
Have a strong musical background in a wide range of styles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as "house band" for regularly scheduled Ensemble Department classes.
Participate in Ensemble and/or additional rehearsals.
Accompany Visiting Artists' concerts, clinics, and workshops.
Assist students and faculty during class time.
Some nights/weekends may be required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Excellent musicianship, especially the ability to groove
A background in all Contemporary styles.
Have complete technical command of the instrument.
Sensitive to the needs of vocalists.
Cultivate a supportive learning environment.
Promote a climate of respect for personal and cultural differences.
Value ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional life.
Are self-critical, questioning, and committed to personal excellence and self-improvement.
Demonstrate a willingness to take on big challenges and see them through.
Hiring Range:
The hourly rate for this role is $40 per hour.
