Job Description

Redwood Credit Union is seeking a Consumer Lending Assistant Manager who will under limited supervision, perform work requiring the use of judgment and discretion in making lending decisions. Responsible for the supervision and management of team members within the department while directing and coordinating effective sales and service activities. Work closely with management to analyze workflows, systems and information and recommend future development of department programs, procedures, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Loan Review and Member Support:

o Analyze loan requests and applications to make decision for loan approval, denial, or counteroffers, up to established Board approved lending limits.
o Perform immediate loan review and render loan decision while Member is present.
o Input application from direct Member calls and makes decisions under the guidelines of established Board approved loan limits.
o Ensure confidentiality and safeguard sensitive Member financial information.
o Recognize and propose changes in the workflow to maintain maximum efficiency.
o Counsel Members on loan requirements and matters affecting the granting of loans.
o Discuss loan options and programs that will benefit each Member and ensure quality Member service.
o Recommend and suggest course of action to Members that help them qualify for a loan.
o Provide exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, internal team members, and service providers.

Leadership:

o Manage performance, train, motivate, coach, counsel and assign duties for team members under direct supervision.
o Perform branch visits as necessary to assist with training needs.
o Communicate policy, product, and pricing changes to ensure quality Member service.
o Analyze and recommend decision of loan requests which are not within RCU lending guidelines.
o Conduct team meetings to disseminate pertinent information and discuss procedures, policies and/or problems to ensure optimum teamwork.
o Develop and maintain written procedures for Consumer Lending department.
o Compose reports on loan volume and service Consumer Lending Manager on a regular basis.

Other Functions:

o Serve on RCU Committees as assigned.
o Participate in community events, community volunteer boards and associations.

Minimum Qualification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of consumer and mortgage loan products offered by RCU.
• Thorough knowledge of lending principles, practices, rules, regulations, and sales.
• Knowledge of product guidelines and compliance requirements.
• Proficient skill in the operation of a PC with the use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and internet loan origination software.
• Ability to effectively plan, lead and manage to ensure successful completion of departmental sales and service goals and Credit Union objectives.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to compose guidelines and procedures for new loan products.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people including vendors and other Credit Union team members.
• Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact.
• Ability to analyze situations and recommend workable solutions.
• Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize work.

Licenses and Certifications

Position requires the ability to be a registered and designated Credit Endorsee with the California Department of Insurance.

The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree, plus a minimum of six years of experience in the consumer lending industry.

Compensation: Base starting range: $100,604 to $132,552 annually commensurate with experience.

Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity. We offer a competitive total rewards package including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

• Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.

• Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
