Job Summary
The University of Michigan Children's Centers have openings for Associate Teachers working in our infant/toddler and preschool classrooms.
The U-M Children's Centers provide care for close to 500 children of faculty, staff and students from all over the world. The centers employ over 120 staff members. The play based programs are designed by teaching teams adapting to meet the needs and interests of the children. We maintain low teacher to child ratios so relationships can flourish. As an associate teacher you will work with children, families and coworkers from diverse backgrounds, cultures and abilities. You will grow in your profession through regular professional development opportunities and will share your unique experiences and creativity while collaborating with coworkers. Staff report directly to the center Director.

Responsibilities*
- Assist in providing developmentally appropriate early learning experiences and care for young children.
- Assist to effectively manage groups of young children within state required ratios to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
- Work with children, families, and colleagues to cultivate an environment of respectful and meaningful relationships.
- Utilize technology to effectively document and reflect on the experiences of children for assessment, planning, and family engagement.

Required Qualifications*
- Associates Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education, certification, training and experience.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers or preschoolers in a professional or group setting.
Additional Information
This role is primarily onsite with occasional remote work offered based on Center business needs. Flexible scheduling may also be considered (i.e. 4 10 hour work days or possible alternate schedules) and will vary by Center.
Union Affiliation
This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
