Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 16.00

Shift: Variable-1:30p-8:30p on scheduled dates

Summary:


Under the direction of a licensed physician or physical therapist, assumes responsibility for managing and providing care to an athlete to prevent, correct, and alleviate injuries. Athletes may include any individual, ranging from children through geriatric populations, who participate in sports, games, recreation, exercise, or other activity that requires physical strength, agility, flexibility, speed, stamina, or range of motion.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree with a major in Athletic Training. Possess current Athletic Training license in the State of Ohio. Possess current BLS certification or obtains it within 90 days of hire.

Preferred: Professional experience as an Athletic Trainer Certified.

Physical Requirements: Ability to walk without an assistive device and maintain balance despite sudden load to support patient from falling during ambulation and gait training. Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift the patient's arm or leg during an exercise program. Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to palpate muscle tension or monitor the patient's pulse. Visual acuity to observe the patient's gross movement, gait, etc., to analyze biomechanical problems. Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may be unable to read. Ability to hear or understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment. Frequently (25-75% of the time) performed tasks. Standing, sitting with and without back support, walking, reaching (overhead, forward, lateral, and low), crouching, balancing, lifting 5-25 pounds, carrying 5-10 pounds, and pushing up to 75 pounds. Occasionally (5-25% of the time) performed tasks.
