Job Description

Redwood Credit Union is seeking a Senior Business Continuity Specialist who will plan, organize, and perform activities and projects for RCU's business continuity program (BCP) to ensure the organization is prepared to respond to and recover from disruptions, ensuring the continuity of critical operations and services. Work closely with departments across RCU to ensure the effectiveness of the BCP and lead efforts to continuously improve RCU's readiness in the event of a business disruption.


Key Responsibilities

Business Continuity Program Management:

o Support enterprise risk leadership in conducting business continuity risk assessments to identify points of vulnerability, gaps in existing capabilities vs. critical business needs, and identify risk reduction strategies.

o Plan, conduct and maintain an enterprise-wide Business Impact Analysis (BIA), analyze BIA data and report findings and recommendations to the Compliance Manager.

o Maintain RCU's Business Continuity Plans and Business Impact Analysis designed to address critical business needs and how RCU will respond and recover from business disruptions to include maintaining plan information in the Archer GRC application as well as ensuring that RCU's intranet site dedicated to BCP is current.

o Lead business continuity related projects, including setting project goals, coordinating efforts between multiple departments, monitoring for effectiveness, and ensuring projects are consistent with RCU's business continuity standards.

o Take part in organizational projects or initiatives with BCP implications to ensure such initiatives are consistent with RCU's BCP standards.

o Prepare business continuity status reports for ERM leadership and the Executive Risk Oversight Committee.

o Support enterprise risk leadership with annual examiner discussions and preparing documentation for examinations.

o Stay up to date with current trends and techniques in business continuity planning, incorporating new knowledge into the BCP as appropriate.

Incident Management:

o Maintain incident management plans and procedures designed to support and guide RCU's leadership response during crisis events and ensure support is provided to team members.

o Assist RCU's leadership team during crisis situations by coordinating the activities of the Incident Response Team; coordination includes ensuring all tasks are properly assigned, communicated, and completed, performing situation monitoring and reporting situation updates to RCU Executives, and maintaining records of key developments of the incident.

o Assist with postmortem analyses of past incident handling and draft recommendations to enhance RCU future incident management strategies.

o Maintain supplies of emergency materials designed to support RCU's leadership team during crisis situations.

Testing & Training:

o   Independently plan, design, and conduct tests and drills designed to assess the effectiveness of RCU's Business Continuity Plans and Incident Management Procedures, required to support critical RCU processes and systems. Oversee results and independently advise on remediation plans.

o Organize and support Compliance Manager and enterprise risk leadership in performing annual tabletop exercises with senior leadership, individual business departments, and assist with building safety and evacuation drills.

o Develop and lead training on business continuity subjects for leaders and team members.

o Develop and lead enterprise risk leadership in team member communications, training, and disaster preparedness campaigns.

o Document results of testing and resulting action plans for reporting to Executives, Board, and federal and state examiners.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Business Continuity Officer Certification is desirable.

The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field with a minimum of five years of experience in business continuity planning or related governance, risk, and compliance fields.


Compensation: Base starting range: $91,520 to $120,573 annually commensurate with experience.

Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
