Overview:

McGuireWoods is seeking a Client Development Manager (CDM) to join our growing Client Experience team. This is a newly created role designed to elevate how the firm engages with and grows relationships across the firm's top strategic client accounts.

The CDM will serve as a day-to-day account leader and project manager, partnering closely with Client Relationship Attorneys, the Director of Client Experience, and Business Development Directors to help execute growth strategies, strengthen collaboration, and deliver an exceptional client experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a strategic and operational partner to lawyers and BD/CX leaders on select Anchor Clients, helping to manage client relationships, develop and execute on client growth plans, and ensure follow-through on key initiatives.
  • Lead and organize client team activity - set meeting agendas, track action items, and maintain accountability across the client account team.
  • Support the execution of client growth plans, identifying cross-practice opportunities, facilitating introductions, and helping advance new areas of collaboration.
  • Partner with Directors to translate industry and market insights into actionable client plan activities.
  • Act as a liaison and "quarterback" between partners, BD/marketing, finance, and client operations to coordinate seamless client service.
  • Develop and maintain client intelligence and reporting dashboards to inform strategy and measure success.
  • Help drive initiatives that enhance the overall client experience, including feedback programs, client partnership opportunities, events, and thought leadership.
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of client development, account management, or business development experience. Law firm experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of law firm client management, campaign execution, and account planning.
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and project management skills; able to manage multiple clients and priorities with agility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication-able to distill complex ideas clearly for lawyers and stakeholders across offices.
  • Adept at navigating cross-functional collaboration and building trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Curious, proactive, and creative-comfortable rethinking processes and offering new solutions.
  • Skilled in CRM and BI tools (e.g., DealCloud, Power BI, Excel).
