Boston Conservatory at Berklee invites applications for Costume Shop openings as: draper/stitchers, wardrobe assistants, and hair/wigs/makeup assistants. Part of the Performance Services department, Costume Shop Overhires are casual, hourly employees reporting to and supervised by the Costume Shop Manager and staff.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a professional theatrical/performance environment, in general/various operations or a specific area

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must be able to work independently, take direction, move with urgency, remain diplomatic and calm in fast-paced situations

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, FileMaker, and/or similar formats for record-keeping and communications is helpful

  • Interest in and knowledge of costume construction techniques, wardrobe maintenance

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Indoor environments, some with low light: stages, backstage areas, dressing rooms, costume shop, props storage, office spaces, closets, catwalks

  • Seated and standing positions

  • May work closely with student workers

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC:

  • Some nights and weekends required

  • Local travel may be required (valid driver’s license necessary)

  • May be required to be able to lift and move 40 pounds

  • May be required to be able to climb stairs, ladders

ADMINISTRATIVE CONDITIONS

  • Final compensation offered is based on applicants’ experience, potential, level of specialization, and is determined by Berklee HR.

  • Accepted candidates will join Berklee’s payroll and submit hours worked via Workday as appropriate.

Hourly Rate: $22
