Job Title: Software AG: Natural/Adabas Administrator

Location: Columbia, SC (On-site)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled System Administrator to manage and optimize our Software AG ecosystem, with a primary focus on Adabas and Natural Security. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our mission-critical systems. You’ll play a key role in database administration, access control, data enablement, and platform advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Adabas & Natural Security (plus CONNX):
  • Maintain production, test, and development environments; monitor backups; refresh environments; manage DDMs and scripts.
  • Security & Access Control:
  • Configure and maintain file/application security; manage access changes; conduct audits and process security requests.
  • Data Access & Analytics Enablement:
  • Recommend and maintain Adabas data extraction tools (e.g., CONNX); create user guides and training materials; support users with query design.
  • Change Management:
  • Guide schema/file changes across environments; maintain scripts and data dictionaries; ensure documentation consistency.
  • Platform Advancement:
  • Research and implement hardware/software upgrades; improve system performance and resilience; maintain supported versions.
  • Resilience & Continuity:
  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and response.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience managing Software AG Adabas and Natural in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Natural Security and CONNX or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in environment refreshes, backup/restore, performance tuning, and scripting.
  • Experience with role-based access control, security audits, and regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with SDLC/change control and maintaining a formal data dictionary.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write user documentation and train users.
  • Experience with NaturalONE, Predict, EntireX, and DDM management best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with capacity planning, platform modernization, and performance engineering.
  • Participation in business continuity/disaster recovery (BC/DR) programs.
