Contractor, Experimentation & Analytics

About the Role

• We’re looking for a highly motivated and independent Data Science Contractor to join our Growth Algorithms team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing and analyzing experiments that drive Stitch Fix’s growth initiatives—spanning client acquisition, onboarding, re-engagement, and conversion.
• You’ll use your analytical expertise to identify audience segments for promotional incentives and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts, including email campaigns and changes to our website and mobile app. Your insights will directly inform strategic decisions and deepen our understanding of client behavior.
• The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with business acumen and thrives in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.

What You’ll Do

• Audience Targeting & Segmentation
  • Use SQL and Python to identify precise customer segments for targeted promotional campaigns and other growth analytics.
  • May include building automated data pipelines for self-serve usage (not required).
• Experimentation & Analysis
  • Own the full lifecycle of A/B testing—from design and powering to execution and analysis.
  • Measure the impact of promotions, marketing campaigns, and UX changes in Stitch Fix’s onboarding flow.
  • Develop custom Python scripts for out-of-platform statistical analysis as needed.
• Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as an analytical partner to product, marketing, and engineering teams.
  • Advise on experimentation strategy and help improve analytical processes.

What You’ll Bring

• SQL Expertise
  • Intermediate to advanced ability to write complex, efficient queries for large datasets.
• Python/PySpark for Data Manipulation
  • Proficiency in scripting fundamentals (loops, functions, data structures).
  • Experience with libraries like pandas and numpy.
• A/B Testing Experience
  • Solid understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis.
• Business Acumen & Data Intuition
  • Ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Skilled at communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Independent Work Style
  • Self-directed and proactive, capable of managing projects end-to-end with minimal oversight.

Nice to Have

• ETL Familiarity
  • Experience building automated data pipelines.
• Basic Data Science / ML Knowledge
  • Exposure to machine learning techniques, especially recommendation systems.
