Director, Observability Platform
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Leader to lead a dedicated team of software engineers. The successful candidate will create and drive the Observability Integrations roadmap that blends scalable automation and security within a multi hybrid cloud environment in support of Fidelity's observability platform. As platform Squad Lead you will be responsible for building, maintaining and supporting enterprise scale observability platform integrations with SaaS solutions such as Datadog. You will also be responsible for building maintain and supporting observability platform solutions based on opensource stack such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required.
- Extensive demonstrable hands-on engineering and coding experience.
- Extensive expertise with managing, administering the Datadog SaaS platform with a focus on platform governance, agent fleet management and finops
- Extensive experience enabling, maintaining and advancing observability platform for complex and varied technology stacks across a large enterprise
- Experience designing and building highly scalable, resilient and cost-effective observability platform using technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, Node Blackbox Exporter, K8's
- Proven leadership skills with demonstrated ability to quarterback engineering teams to deliver scalable robust solutions.
- Forward thinking and strategic approach to be able to recognize and connect patterns to both enhance and simplify your platform
- Expertise in Observability technologies and practices and well-grounded in the knowledge of engineering and continuous delivery practices.
- Understanding of the different Observability approaches and how to apply them and when. Experience with Synthetics and Rum (Browser & Mobile)
- Deep understanding and experience in developing security controls in public cloud
- You have a solid understanding of IT services, IT Service Management in an Enterprise context and cloud delivery models including IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS; automation; containers; auto-scaling, virtual compute, storage, and networking; identity and access management; configuration management, incident management, problem management, asset management, logging and audit.
