We are looking for a Director, Engineering - Personal Card Technology who brings expertise leading engineering teams that build high performance systems and customer facing digital applications. In Wealth Cash Solutions - Personal Cards, we are embarking on a multi-year journey to improve our debit and credit card programs - including enhancing our ability to service customers over our live channels, improving the digital experiences (web and mobile), and optimizing our vendor partnership structure. Join us to be a part of a fast-paced team that follows a strong product mindset and uses customer and market feedback, and strong engineering practices to develop highly critical and scalable card technology systems that can be leveraged by multiple products across Fidelity.

The Value You Deliver

Progressive Engineering Leadership:

  • Provide Engineering expertise, thought leadership and partnerships across Product Management, Engineering & Human-Centric Design teams

  • Provide technical and functional oversight with product management teams to ensure we are building the best products, platforms, and experiences for our customers.

  • Work collaboratively with your product partners to prioritize technical efforts and provide guidance on product features and capabilities.

  • Focus on Execution and delivering value through constant prioritization, trade-offs, and accountability

  • Collaborate with Architecture and Platform Engineering teams on setting technical direction and ensure alignment with our technology strategy.

  • Ensure engineered solutions address scale, security, reuse, and high availability requirements by using platforms and established patterns and practices.

  • Accelerate & increase efficiency by continuously improving engineering & operations practices.

  • Engage as an authority on technology, staying abreast of and contributing to external industry trends, advancements, and innovations in technical areas of expertise.

Engaging Engineering Leadership:

  • Create and promote the vision, roadmap, and expectations for your engineering teams to achieve engineering excellence in all results.

  • Define and implement a plan to attract, hire, build and retain the optimal skills for your Teams.

  • Facilitate learning at scale to promote skill, career, and development growth for technologists on the team

  • Maintain and share knowledge and expertise on the evolving needs of customers, internal and external markets, and industry trends and changes across our community.

  • Lead team members through a high degree of organizational complexity in support of cross-domain and cross-product area work.

  • As the direct reporting manager for technologists, you will be responsible for talent reviews, performance evaluation, compensation decisions, goal setting, career development, and top talent recruitment practices.

  • Advance Diversity and Inclusion through promotion of inclusive hiring practices, mentoring, and coaching.

The Skills and Expertise You Bring

  • 10+ years of functional experience in product management and/or technology, with a high level of agile, analytical, and coaching skills.

  • Proven experience working hands-on on software engineering problems - Development of APIs, Data intensive applications, and scaling cloud-based solutions, etc. using variety of programming languages like Java/Scala/Python, Go.

  • Experience in application architecture design and development on AWS using various architecture patterns (e.g., Distributed, Serverless, Event Driven, Microservices etc.) and can articulate the right paradigm for the problem at hand,

  • Experience delivering highly secure, scalable, and resilient applications.

  • Experience working with DevOps metrics and should demonstrate awareness of managing, improving, and advocating for these metrics to drive Engineering Excellence

  • Experience partnering with Product and Business teams to break down strategy into practical mission, goals, and priorities.

  • Experience with Credit/Debit card domain and knowledge of PCI/HIPAA will be a plus.

  • Track record of inspiring the creativity and innovation of teams, creating a culture of inclusion, experimentation, exploration, and continuous learning.

  • Ability to collaborate across business units, with peers and leadership to ensure objectives, KPI's and standards are aligned.

  • Ability to attract, hire and build a pool of diverse, engaged engineers with the skills needed today and in the future.

  • Ability to connect with and influence all levels of the organization and motivate change
