Roles Available:
- Mechanic Apprentice
- Plant Operator Trainee
- I&C Apprentice
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public.
- Knowledgeable of environmental rules and regulations, and effectively apply them to all work situations.
- Installs, maintains tests, inspects, and repairs generating station equipment such as boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
- Replaces bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, seats, and other miscellaneous parts used in plant equipment.
- Works with mechanics and skill enhancement employees to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures.
- Perform safety related duties such as accepting work authorizations, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, etc.
- Ability to use hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, sledgehammers, etc).
- Ability to use shop tools (i.e. power saws, drills, drill presses, and lathes).
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of military experience in mechanical maintenance repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of pumps, turbines, auxiliary equipment or engines OR machine shop equipment experience including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating and diagnostics.
- Valid State Driver's License
- Successful applicant must receive a rating of "recommended" on the NRG Pre-Employment Skills Assessment test.
