National Grid is hiring a Field Safety Specialist for our Field Safety and Health department in Utica, NY

Job Purpose
As a Field Safety Specialist, you will work to improve the overall safety culture and ensure compliance by implementing and maintaining National Grid's safety programs.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform field visits to job sites to ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local regulations as well as National Grid policies and procedures
- Investigate incidents, injuries, damage to property or other safety-related concerns
- Cultivate safety and health skills and knowledge of frontline workers
- Participate or lead Risk Assessment or Job Hazard Analysis teams
- Review contractor Health and Safety Plans and suggest improvements before project kickoff
- Act as subject matter expert for large project pre-job review, walk-through, planning and execution
- Inspect new processes, materials, tools, substances, and equipment to proactively identify hazards
- Must be able to be comfortable presenting to all levels of the organization from crew members to Vice Presidents
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Psychology, or related subject required
- 2+ years of related safety experience where safety oversight and responsibility were at least 90% of the job duties required
- Proven understanding of all related OSHA regulations, DOT regulations, and applicable ANSI standards required
- Certification from Board of Certified Safety Professionals preferred
- MS Office proficiency required
- Valid driver's license required

Salary: $75,000 - $88,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
