Food Service Personnel are expected to provide world class customer service to Michigan Medicine patients, visitors and their coworkers while maintaining the highest quality standards for food safety and sanitation.

Responsibilities*
- Play a role in providing exceptional food and service to our patients by either assembling patient trays, serving patient trays, washing patient dishware, or another supporting role in our kitchen.
- Follow food safety guidelines and infection prevention protocols
- Follow standard recipes for portion control and operate food service equipment safely.
Required Qualifications*
- A High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of work experience
- This position requires walking and standing throughout the shift, frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. Reading and writing proficiently in English.

Temporary employees often obtain permanent employment with Michigan Medicine. You will receive training on a variety of roles within the kitchen.
Work Schedule
This is a temporary position working in the kitchen to provide food service to patients. Schedules may vary between the operating hours of 6:30 am - 9:30 pm.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
