Job Description
The Department of Psychiatry at The MetroHealth System, a teaching hospital affiliated with Case Western Reserve University, is seeking a board-certified (or board-eligible) psychiatrist to join our Interventional Psychiatry team. Based at our main campus, this role includes responsibilities across Consult, Emergency, Inpatient, and Interventional Psychiatry services with a primary focus on Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and the potential to incorporate Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Esketamine treatment. Candidates with experience or certification in ECT are strongly preferred. The position offers opportunities for clinical program development, teaching, and academic collaboration within a multidisciplinary and mission-driven environment.
The MetroHealth System has a strong commitment to expanding access to behavioral health care across the region. As part of this mission, a 112-bed behavioral health hospital has opened in Cleveland Heights, featuring specialized adult units including geropsychiatry, psychiatric intensive care, dual diagnosis, mood, and thought disorders. A dedicated Psychiatric Emergency Department is now operational on the Cleveland Heights campus. Additional services including an adolescent unit and partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient programs are in development, further supporting a comprehensive, system-wide continuum of care.
While this position is based at the main campus, it is closely connected to system-wide behavioral health services, including those at Cleveland Heights, allowing for collaboration across inpatient, emergency, and interventional care settings.
The MetroHealth System offers a competitive compensation package, health insurance, paid time off, liability insurance, an academic appointment to the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine faculty at a rank commensurate with experience, CME opportunities, malpractice coverage, an impressive pension program with a generous employer match through the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and excellent environment for faculty members to develop a strong clinical and research program (both basic and clinical).
We have exceptional clinicians with extraordinary hearts. The MetroHealth System has an established commitment to service to our community in addition to providing state of the art medical care to the greater Cleveland area.
From our extensive Metroparks systems with thousands of miles of greenspace to our award-winning eateries to the incredible arts scene featuring the largest performing arts center outside of New York and one of the best orchestras in the world and a low cost of living to boot, Cleveland is one of the top places to live in the country.
