Position Overview
Apex Systems Mexico is seeking a Lead Copilot Engineer to oversee the technical design, architecture, and delivery of Microsoft Copilot Studio–based automation and AI solutions. This role requires deep expertise in Power Platform, Copilot Studio, and enterprise data integrations, along with leadership experience guiding cross-functional teams.
The Lead Copilot Engineer will serve as the primary technical authority, responsible for ensuring scalable design, governance alignment, and successful implementation of use cases across business functions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end Copilot Studio solution design, from use case validation to deployment and sustainment.
- Architect Copilot workflows that integrate with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, and third-party systems such as Salesforce, SAP, and ServiceNow.
- Oversee prompt engineering, connector configuration, and AI workflow orchestration.
- Define and enforce governance, compliance, and security standards across all copilots.
- Design data access frameworks and coordinate with governance teams to ensure privacy and audit readiness.
- Develop scalable approaches for RAG-based chatbots, summarization bots, and knowledge discovery.
- Provide technical mentorship to Copilot Engineers and ensure best practices in architecture and automation.
- Conduct code reviews, performance tuning, and security validations for all implementations.
- Collaborate with project managers and business stakeholders to track KPIs, adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Support training initiatives for end users and COE leads, including documentation and knowledge transfer.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging AI capabilities to enhance platform capabilities.
- 7+ years of experience in Power Platform, Microsoft 365, or cloud automation engineering.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, and Power Virtual Agents.
- Strong understanding of AI prompt engineering, workflow design, and integration architecture.
- Hands-on experience connecting Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, Salesforce, SAP, and ServiceNow.
- Experience managing RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and semantic search solutions.
- Knowledge of data governance, access control, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong background in solution architecture, testing, and deployment automation.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of guiding both technical and non-technical teams.
- English proficiency (B2+ level) for collaboration with international stakeholders.
- Microsoft certifications such as Power Platform Solution Architect Expert, Azure AI Engineer Associate, or equivalent.
- Experience designing Copilot frameworks at scale across enterprise ecosystems.
- Familiarity with LangChain, vector embeddings, or external AI integrations.
- Prior experience mentoring or managing development teams in an Agile environment.
- Exposure to data privacy, finance, or regulated industry projects.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communicator and team mentor with collaborative leadership style.
- Detail-oriented and quality-driven, with a focus on governance and compliance.
- Adaptable, innovative, and passionate about AI-enabled automation.
- Capable of driving results in a complex, fast-paced enterprise environment.
