Operations Technician - Plant Franklin
JOB SUMMARY
An operations technician is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of the power plant on a 24/7 – 365 basis. Additional responsibilities will include monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing the plant's electrical and mechanical equipment, utilizing a computerized work order management system (Maximo®) and other common programs as well as actively participating in the fleet-wide operation review boards as a system owner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Experience:
- Previous power plant experience is preferred.
- Combined Cycle Operations experience preferred.
- Electrical Troubleshooting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment is required.
- Previous Operations Experience a plus.
- Instrumentation experience is a plus.

- Excellent communication, problem solving, and team skills required.

- Must be able to pass the Ops Tech test to progress to a fully qualified Operations Technician.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operations & Maintenance of Three, 2 on 1 Combined Cycle Units.
- Electrical Troubleshooting and Maintenance on Balance of Plant equipment (Electric Motors, Breakers, Actuators, Relays, etc.)
- Mechanical Troubleshooting and Maintenance on Balance of Plant equipment (Pumps, Valves, Fans, etc.)
- GE Mark VIe and Ovation DCS control system troubleshooting and operation.
- Must have a self-directed mindset.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Actively participate in SPC operations review board teams/Technical teams when assigned.
- System ownership- Develop work scope for outages and routine maintenance on assigned system, share best practices across fleet, establish budget for assigned system (replacements and/or maintenance cost)
- Clearly communicate complex issues to management, vendors, and external personnel to resolve problems quickly and effectively.
