Job Description

Job Summary:

Perform specific operating room scheduling functions using current computer systems and software. Schedule, re-schedule and cancel surgeries and associated appointments for multiple service lines working in a fast-paced environment. Develop and maintain physician Operating Room schedules.



Essential Responsibilities:

* Maximize operating room utilization by appropriately booking the right type of surgery cases by priority and length of time. Open, cancel and modify physician operating room and clinic schedules.


keep surgery schedule and wait list updated daily, adhering to the local turnaround policy and guidelines.


* Communicate changes to the appropriate personnel and other departments.
*Rebook cancelled patients as determined by physician procedures and department policies. Must be courteous, flexible, have a positive attitude with members, physicians, staff and visitors/family.
*Problem-solve issues and ability to maintain detailed records and statistics with little direction..
*Treat concerns as opportunities to improve service and ensure appropriate outcomes occur.
*Communicate effectively with consumers, co-workers and other departments in the medical offices, hospital and regional offices.
*Provide requested information as needed to all customers, internal and external; research, investigate, and problem- solve in a self-directed, empowered manner; document and report outcomes appropriately.
* Exhibit effective verbal and written communications skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers and other departments in the medical offices, hospital and throughout the California region. Work as a team member to support the Surgery Scheduling Department.


Grade 6



Basic Qualifications:


Experience



  • Three years healthcare office experience performing surgery scheduling duties required.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent.


License, Certification, Registration



  • N/A


Additional Requirements:



  • Microsoft Office required.

  • Must have experience with a computerized surgical/clinical appointment system in a position that demonstrates knowledge and skills in the following areas: PARRS, HealthConnect

  • Medical Terminology.

  • Typing 35WPM.


  • Microsoft Word (Basic), Microsoft Excel (Basic)




  • Ability to clearly speak, read, write and thoroughly understand English, as well as demonstrate strong non-verbal communication skills.




  • Ability to learn and willingness follow policies and procedures.




  • Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
