Payroll & Leave Specialist

Job Description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the human resources department in payroll, time/attendance, and leave administration. This position will provide support in all human resource functions to maintain a fair, equitable, and positive work environment for all employees in support of the mission of the organization.

Essential Position Duties

·       In partnership with TINA HR, maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

·       Ensures timely submission of accurate timecards from management into our HRIS.

·       In partnership with TINA HR, ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

·       Administers quarterly incentive program payments for sales bonus programs.

·       Records leaves and adjust time/pay in the HRIS or payroll systems as needed.

·       Manages human resources reporting functions of time/attendance or payroll requirements.

·       Administers the organization's leave of absence programs.

·       Advises associates and managers on the organization's leave programs, including maternity or paternity leave, medical or disability leave, military leave, or unpaid leave.

·       Analyzes leave claims or requests, determines Associate eligibility, assists managers in the development of alternate work arrangements or coordination of coverage, and manages Associate return to service or separation.

·       Maintains reasonable communication with Associates on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between Associates, their human resources business partner and their managers during leave within reason.

·       Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.

·       Preserves confidentiality of Associate medical documentation and files.

·       Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.

·       Creates and implements improvement ideas for attendance programs, benefits changes, etc.

·       Lead compensation, FLSA, and other audits as required.

·       Ensures consistency of policy administration.

·       Recommends policy enhancements.

·       Ability to interact positively with others including both internal and external customers.

• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

• Additional duties as assigned

Education & Experience

·       Bachelor's degree in business or human resources

·       Minimum of one year human resources experience preferred

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential

·       Must be a team-player who enjoys working in a collaborative work environment

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·       Excellent organization skills

·       Commitment to lifelong learning and process improvement

·       Ability to convey complex information in an understandable format

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion. Frequent use of computer and telephone.

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
