About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Medical Director / Psychiatrist to lead our outpatient behavioral healthcare team. In this key leadership role, you'll oversee clinical and administrative operations while providing direct psychiatric care to clients.
This position blends psychiatric leadership with hands-on clinical work-including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and medication management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all medical and psychiatric treatment programs including Psychiatric Services Clinic, Telepsychiatry, ACT, OBOT, and 24-hour residential programs.
- Supervise and mentor medical staff, including nurses, physicians, and consultants.
- Collaborate with CIBH leadership to manage psychiatric services, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop and review program goals, procedures, and policies to ensure top-tier psychiatric care.
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to clinical best practices across programs.
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, prescribe and monitor medications, and manage treatment plans.
- Support innovation, training, and data-driven improvements in psychiatry and behavioral health services.
Education & Experience:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a 4-year accredited residency program in Psychiatry.
- Minimum of several years' experience in psychiatric care, preferably in community-based behavioral health settings.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Current Virginia medical license and DEA registration.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry (preferred).
- Waiver to prescribe Suboxone (within 12 months of hire).
- Valid driver's license meeting City of Chesapeake standards.
