The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you will be a key member of the Fidelity Investments Life Insurance ('FILI') accounting team. You will be responsible for supporting the accounting and reporting of the investment portfolios for FILI and its affiliated reinsurer, Soteria Reinsurance Ltd.'s, (collectively, the 'Company') as well as other month end accounting close responsibilities.

  • Support the systems implementation of FILI's general account investment portfolio to a 3rd party vendor software used by the Company;
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial close including investment and other journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis;
  • Prepare schedules supporting quarterly and annual regulatory filings and financial statement reporting for investments and other schedules as needed;
  • Review the investment portfolio for compliance with internal investment policies and regulatory filing requirements (U.S. and Bermuda) including applicable GAAP and statutory accounting principles (including Asset Valuation Reserve and Interest Maintenance Reserve, and Risk Based Capital);
  • Support the audit process with external auditors; and
  • Maintain financial controls and understanding of accounting and financial processes.

The Expertise and The Skills You Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; a CPA and/or Master's degree or equivalent training is a plus
  • Experience in the Financial Services Industry (3 to 4+ years) preferred
  • Understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, practices, and internal controls
  • Ability to quickly understand and connect key concepts and dependencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of financial systems and dynamic reporting tools work (i.e., Oracle) and are highly proficient in Excel

The Team

We play a key role to ensure that investment transactions are recorded accurately for financial reporting and protecting the firm's assets through our work in financial accounting, internal controls, and legal entity reporting. FILI, who is part of Fidelity's Enterprise Services organization, provides annuity and insurance products that enable our customers to address their financial needs.

The base salary range for this position is $67,000-127,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
