Senior Analyst/Consultant (Controls Effectiveness)

Client: Financial Services

Location: Toronto. Hybrid: 1 day in office

Duration of Contract/Perm: 6-month contract with high potential of extension or conversion.

Hours/week: 37.5

Start date: October 2025

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Analyst to support our clients team as they plan and implement key initiatives for the upcoming fiscal year. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in technology or cybersecurity, combined with a solid understanding of risk and control frameworks - particularly within the financial services sector.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and documenting new procedures and processes, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations such as OSFI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Implementation of Strategic Initiatives: Assist in executing the Controls Effectiveness roadmap for the next fiscal year, including the rollout of new processes and operational frameworks.
  • Process & Procedure Development: Design and formalize procedures that may extend beyond the immediate team, ensuring scalability and clarity.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across departments to align roles, responsibilities, and operational impacts.
  • Documentation & Governance: Create comprehensive documentation outlining operations, roles, responsibilities, and control mechanisms.
  • Risk & Control Advisory: Apply a strong risk and control mindset to assess and enhance control effectiveness, leveraging experience in audit, risk management, or compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Technology or Cybersecurity: Proven background in IT risk, cyber controls, or technology governance.
  • Risk & Control Expertise: Experience in internal audit, risk management, or control testing within a regulated environment.
  • Financial Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with banking regulations and frameworks, including OSFI guidelines.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences and drive consensus across teams.
  • Process-Oriented Mindset: Skilled in developing and implementing operational procedures and control documentation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with control frameworks (e.g., COBIT, NIST, ISO)
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance in financial institutions
  • Project management or change management experience is a plus
