This is a great opportunity to join CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Government Programs division as a Senior Corporate Communications Consultant working on ACA, Medicaid, and the newly implemented Basic Health Plan in Washington, DC. We are looking for a candidate with experience in regulated healthcare programs, who is enthusiastic about co-creating strategies to better engage our members and communicate when it matters most. 

PURPOSE:

The Senior Corporate Communications Consultant executes and develops corporate communications strategies that keep the target audience engaged and informed. They execute tactics using a strategic mix of communication channels. The Sr Consultant is the primary lead for developing strategic communication plans in support of high level special projects and corporate or divisional initiatives. This role presents communications strategies at executive meetings and mentors less experienced team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads the development and implementation of the marketing and communication strategy across various audiences and channels. Works closely with business divisions to understand opportunities and priorities to provide strategic oversight and direction of various communications need which may be anticipated or unplanned.
  • Leads the development and amplification of strategic communications, including but not limited to tactical printed marketing materials, digital communications (website, social media, etc.) presentations, thought leadership, talking points, go-to-market campaigns and more.
  • Direct and work in conjunction with all support resources including but not limited to Business Divisions, Marketing Communications, Brand, Product, Public Relations, Strategic Research, Legal and Compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 8 years professional communications experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of sales and/or health insurance experience.
  • Experience in regulated healthcare programs.
  • Good understanding of healthcare trends.
  • An understanding of government regulations and experience dealing with government regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Progressive experience in marketing communications with demonstrated leadership.
  • Experience in advertising, brand management, marketing communications, strategic planning with proven ability to develop strategies.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. 
  • Executive level presentation skills. 
  • Participates with Senior Leadership on strategy development and issue resolution. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.


Salary Range: $82,440 - $163,735
