Job Purpose

The Flexible Connections Engineer supports and facilitates the development and implementation of National Grid's Flexible Connections offerings, helping enable the efficient integration of renewable and flexible resources across the distribution network. This role partners with multiple groups to align activities, coordinate connection designs, resolve dependencies, and ensure flexible connections are implemented consistently and effectively within Massachusetts.

The engineer will engage directly with customers connecting under Flexible Connection offerings, aligning on technical requirements and design details while supporting successful execution. Through hands-on involvement in active projects, this role contributes practical insights and feedback to help refine Flexible Connection processes, improve customer experience, and strengthen program performance over time. The position emphasizes collaboration, applied engineering judgment, and continuous learning within a growing and evolving area of the electric grid.

Key Accountabilities

* Build on previously established project work and research to inform Flex offering capabilities & customer designs.

* Support customer teams to identify locations for flex offerings

* Engage with internal and external stakeholders for alignment on the incorporation of Flex connected sites.

* Supporting planning, design, and engineering teams in the analysis and implementation of projects.

* Work across multiple Flex connection projects to develop project schedules and collaborate with internal stakeholders and implementation teams.

* Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to share best practice and ensure efficient information sharing.

* Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency by identifying opportunities to improve processes and applying internal and external best practices.

* Ensure compliant and high-quality working practices by promoting procedural best practices, maintaining strong internal and external networks, and supporting adherence to National Grid policies, regulatory requirements, and relevant health and safety standards.

Qualifications

* ABET accredited Bachelor of Engineering Degree required.

* Minimum of 4 years engineering experience required.

* Minimum of 2 year's engineering experience working in the utility industry preferred.

* Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
