SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Specialty Pharmacy Chief (Supervisor), performs a variety of medication preparation tasks, as well as other duties in support of specialty pharmacy operations. Responsible for supporting Specialty Pharmacy processes and business metrics that enhance patient care, improve capture, integrate technology and initiatives, and align operations. Must possess Pharmacy Technician Registration, as required by the Massachusetts Pharmacy Board of Registration as well as National Pharmacy Training Certification.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required.
Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program or institutional/retail pharmacy experience.
Must currently be a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts with an active pharmacy technician license without restrictions from the MA Board of Pharmacy.
Must currently have an active National Pharmacy Training Certification without restrictions.
Must complete Certified Pharmacy Technician Continuing Education (CE) credits per calendar year as required by National Pharmacy Technician Certification and in accordance with Pharmacy Staff License Monitoring and Maintenance of Credentials Policy.
Must not be listed on the Exclusion Database List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) maintained by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG).
EXPERIENCE
One to two years' experience as a specialty pharmacy technician is preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
SKILLS
Requires in depth knowledge of area of specialty pharmacy.
Must possess working knowledge of pharmacy operations.
Requires knowledge of laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and patient confidentiality.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills are preferred.
Must be team oriented and demonstrate excellent customer service skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and colleagues.
Sound judgment with the ability to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Requires knowledge of medication abbreviation and symbols, common dosage calculations, and storage requirements.
Strong computer skills are preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook desirable
The annual range for this role is $24.64 to $36.96 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. Atrius Health complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
