Skills and Competencies

  • 10+ years of industry experience within (re)insurance or (re)insurance broking, with a strong familiarity with market drivers, trends, and the competitive landscape
  • Established track record of successfully developing a network of clients and nurturing deep relationships with senior insurance industry professionals (CUOs, CEOs, CROs
  • Clear written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts to a senior audience
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency
  • Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
  • Experience in the publishing and delivery of thought leadership through research, publications, and speaking engagements is preferred
  • Fluency in English is essential; international experience and proficiency in other European languages are advantageous

Education

  • Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's degree) required
  • Graduate/second-level degree (e.g., MBA, Master's, or Ph.D.) is preferred

Responsibilities

Expand Moody's presence and visibility in the insurance sector by creating new connections, developing client relationships, and identifying growth opportunities

  • Develop a network of senior stakeholders (CUOs, CEOs, CROs) to connect with Moody's executive leadership and participate in client advisory boards
  • Work with sales, product, and marketing teams to drive market engagement and raise awareness of Moody's vision, capabilities, and expertise
  • Source new opportunities and refer leads to the sales team through event participation, client networking, and market intelligence
  • Identify and participate in key industry events and establish strong links with industry associations to expand Moody's reach and network
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop an outreach plan that includes PR, conferences, event appearances, and a publication agenda
  • Provide support, coaching, or leadership to assist colleagues on specific opportunities where you are well-positioned to contribute
  • Work closely with senior management and product teams to highlight growth opportunities and share market feedback
  • Position requires approximately 25% travel.

About the team

The Americas Insurance Sales team is focused on expanding Moody's presence and visibility across brokers, insurers, and reinsurers, with a particular emphasis on the Property and Casualty sector. As a Business Development Officer, you will work closely with sales, product, and marketing teams to create new connections, develop strategic client relationships, and identify new growth opportunities, playing a key role in driving market engagement and raising awareness of Moody's vision and expertise.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is$163,300.00-$236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
