This role is hybrid to the Brooklyn, NY office, with travel within the New York National Grid service territory.
Job Purpose
The position is a key member of the NY Strategic Communications team, based in Brooklyn, but serving UNY and DNY needs across five regions - NYC, Melville, Albany, Syracuse, and Buffalo.
Under the direction of the NY Strategic Comms Director, this is a Principal Manager position that will collaborate with regional media managers to produce original digital content including videos, photos, and graphics for social media, internal channels, websites, mainstream media, and corporate affairs teams for strategic communications needs. Manager will also utilize additional digital content sources from National Grid-contracted agencies and regional media managers. Manager will follow all established National Grid Brand guidelines to ensure content can be utilized as needed across all business units.
US Corporate Communications is responsible for advancing and protecting National Grid's reputation in the US. This team communicates National Grid's story as an energy leader and a company that is committed to safe, reliable, affordable service, community support, and diversity equity, and inclusion. The individual in this position will develop and manage strategic digital communications strategies, plans, and projects that advance and protect National Grid's reputation and support local, regional and national company business strategy.
Key Accountabilities
* Shooting, editing, and producing original photos/video
* Enterprising stories related to the NY BU workforce, economic development, electric and gas operations, innovation and technology, safety, customer service, etc.
* Documenting storm preparation and response as needed
* Document and support major events including partnerships, grant awards, press conferences and announcements involving NYBU leadership, speaking engagements, and other events as directed by the Director of Strategic Communications
* Develop strong digital narratives and communications that resonate with stakeholders, thought leaders, influencers, policymakers, investors, customers, communities, media and others.
* Drive awareness of initiatives, programs and events designed to improve brand affinity and perception of National Grid.
* Work with media managers and other corporate affairs team members to train in basic content gathering
* Set up and manage a NY content studio and repository
* Review and deploy global and archival content as appropriate
* Procure, maintain and deploy equipment necessary to fulfill mission.
* Regular travel required, primarily to other upstate and downstate New York company locations
Qualifications
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in digital media production with direct experience in communications, public relations/public affairs outreach, video production, writing, journalism and/or editing
* Ability to edit and operate on all Adobe platforms including Creative Cloud, Premiere, and Photoshop
* Bachelor's Degree required in communications, journalism or related field, or comparable experience preferred
* Knowledge of New York news media and government required.
* Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely for both internal and external audiences, including (but not limited to) social media, scripts, blog posts, website articles, etc. Writing samples must be provided.
* Excellent track record of delivery and performance - a self-starter. Confident, independent individual with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
* Experience in engaging with external organizations including state/local agencies, local media, and other content providers.
* Excellent Project Management, verbal and written communication skills.

Salary
$154k - $185k a year
