The Project Manager, Strategic Projects serves as a leader responsible for coordinating, executing, and advancing a portfolio of federally funded grid transformation initiatives. In this role, the Project Manager helps secure and manage key partnerships to accelerate deployment of grid modernization solutions while aligning execution with Georgia Power’s strategic objectives. This position operates at the intersection of strategy, partnerships, and delivery, providing the structure, coordination, and governance needed to translate complex initiatives into successful outcomes across multiple organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct oversight and coordination for a small team supporting federally funded and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment, accountability, and disciplined execution.
  • Lead end‑to‑end program management for strategically funded grid transformation initiatives, including application development, project identification, execution, and close‑out across a portfolio of interrelated efforts.
  • Identify, secure, and manage strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to accelerate implementation and scale of grid modernization initiatives.
  • Translate external requirements and strategic objectives into clear program structures, governance models, milestones, and execution plans.
  • Drive cross‑functional coordination across transmission, distribution, engineering, finance, regulatory, legal, project management, and other partner organizations to align priorities and deliver results.
  • Develop and implement repeatable processes to support effective execution, compliance, reporting, and oversight of strategically funded initiatives.
  • Oversee program performance, including schedule, funding, risk, dependencies, and resource needs, escalating issues with recommended actions.
  • Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking for complex, multi‑year programs.
  • Lead and develop direct reports, setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate program progress and outcomes clearly to leadership and stakeholders to support informed decision‑making.
  • Model Georgia Power’s values while fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and disciplined execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex initiatives or programs, preferably within energy, infrastructure, or other capital‑intensive or regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating work across multiple organizations, stakeholders, or partners in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong program or project management foundation, with the ability to operate at a portfolio or initiative level.
  • Experience supporting or managing externally funded initiatives, strategic partnerships, or large‑scale programs is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience supporting leadership‑level discussions and decision‑making.
  • Proven judgment, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize across competing demands.
  • Self‑starter mindset with a proven track record of ownership and follow‑through.
  • Demonstrated experience with grid modernization, infrastructure programs, or utility operations.
