Student Preschool Classroom Assistant (Student Temp)
Job Description
Job Summary
The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) under the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, is a high quality early childhood program which applies a Reggio Emilia inspired constructivism theory of learning. The curriculum focus is nuturing children's critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. The ECEC is a State of Michigan approved and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited early learning center for young children. The center serves as a model teacher preparation and child study facility for university students enrolled in a variety of UM-Dearborn education courses.
The ECEC is seeking highly motivated and compassionate students to assistant lead teachers in a pre-school classroom environment.
10 - 30 hours per week
WORK -STUDY STUDENTS WELCOME TO APPLY
Responsibilities*
Work with children (ages 1-6) in a classroom setting. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- assist with group time activities
- outdoor exploration
- documenting children's thoughts and ideas
- provide lunchtime and snack support to children
- snack preparation
- provide one on one attention when needed
- classroom maintenance
Required Qualifications*
- Must be a current UM student in order to be considered for this position
- High School Diploma
- Clear communication both written and oral
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
