Our client, a leading healthcare organization committed to serving diverse communities in Queens, New York, is hiring a Chief of Orthopedics, Orthopedic Surgeon. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to shape and grow a dynamic orthopedic service line within an academic medical center and public health environment. As Chief of Orthopedics, you will oversee the administration, strategic planning, and overall management of the department, driving excellence in clinical care, program development, and departmental growth. You will lead efforts to expand the orthopedic services, including the potential for developing specialized programs and transitioning to a faculty practice model aligned with other departments such as OB/GYN and neurology. The position requires providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care to patients of all ages, and the successful candidate will contribute to elevating the department's reputation through leadership, innovation, and community engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead departmental operations, strategic initiatives, and clinical program development.
  • Oversee orthopedic patient care, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based treatment.
  • Foster multidisciplinary collaboration and build relationships within the hospital and community.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies to expand orthopedic services and revenue.
  • Manage departmental staff, support recruitment, and promote professional development.
  • Participate in academic activities, including teaching, research, and faculty appointments.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree, with board certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Valid New York State Medical License, DEA, and Medicaid numbers.
  • Strong clinical expertise with the ability to perform general orthopedic procedures and specialty surgeries.
  • Proven leadership or management experience, preferably in academic or public health settings.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
