Summary:
The Surgical Supply Distribution Technician is responsible for the ordering, receipt, storage and distribution of supplies and special-order purchases for Surgery, Anesthesia, and Central Sterile Reprocessing.

Responsibilities:

• Delivers items and supplies to the assigned areas, signs and dates appropriate paperwork, places inventory items in the desired location in accordance to proper procedure, and restocking par areas in a timely manner.
• Ensures that stock items are issued with the proper paperwork and correct stock number and quantity issued. Checks for outdated stock when putting the new stock on the shelf. Ensures that items are rotated from the front to back (new stock to back old to front) when putting new stock on shelf and reports stock outs to the Buyer.
• Reviews and maintains supplies by service in collaboration with the surgical staff. Recommends supplies to be eliminated and/or added to the inventory in coordination to surgical staff.
• Maintains inventory of surgical supplies. Replenishes stock to max PAR levels, retires and replaces outdated supplies, monitors for and returns recalled materials and ensures effective replacements.
• Reduces waste for consumables, ensuring that excess material is effectively returned to vendors or redeployed to partner organizations.
• Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.


Other information:
Required

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Proficiency with the Microsoft office suite, specifically Word and Excel
• Ability to lift up to 30lbs and push up to 75lbs (with cart assistance)
• Effective interpersonal communication skills

Preferred
• Prior experience working in a medical materials management setting
