Skills and Qualifications

  • 8 to 10 years overall experience including at least 7 years of legal experience in fund finance or structured finance
  • Solid working experience on various legal documents for fund finance or structured transactions
  • Strong analytical orientation
  • Solid understanding of asset management and fund finance sectors, including key players, and industry drivers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills
  • Capable of developing independent opinions and defending own views clearly and succinctly
  • Ability to work on multiple transactions simultaneously, and work effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can improve processes and drive efficiency

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree required, with demonstrated expertise in corporate law, regulatory compliance, or financial services legislation

Responsibilities
This role focuses on legal analysis of fund finance transactions, producing enforceability reports, resolving legal issues, authoring research, and providing legal training. Required qualifications include a law degree with 8-10 years of experience, strong analytical skills, and expertise in fund finance legal documentation.

  • Conduct legal analysis and review for fund finance transactions for the purpose of determining credit risk and ratings as well as lead new ratings processes as needed
  • Produce reports that summarize enforceability of collateral, perfection of security interests and enforcement mechanisms, along with comparisons to the relevant benchmarks, for fund finance transactions
  • Coordinate discussions and seek consistent resolution of legal analytical issues at the team level, and supervise junior analysts on the team
  • Represent the team in issuer and investor meetings and other forms of outreach including dialogue related to transaction legal analysis
  • Author research, including articles and in-depth reports on credit issues affecting the fund finance industry
  • Demonstrate a solid command of fund finance rating methodologies
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant industry dynamics, and current trends affecting the industries
  • Provide legal training to team members

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $198,300.00-$287,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
