Role Overview:
The Strategy, Solutions & Marketing (SS&M) organization serves as the strategic hub of Group Benefit Solutions (GBS), enabling the successful execution of key initiatives across the business. SS&M plays a critical role in advancing GBS's priorities by developing differentiated products, delivering impactful marketing, shaping competitive strategies, equipping employees through targeted learning programs, and ensuring disciplined project execution. As a central connector across the enterprise, SS&M facilitates alignment, drives collaboration, and helps position GBS for long-term success.
The Digital Product team within Strategy, Solutions & Marketing (SS&M) focuses on building and enhancing the logged-in portals used by employees and employers. Our goal is to deliver simple, intuitive digital experiences that make it easier for employees to file and track claims, and for employers to manage reporting, billing, and employee support. We partner across product, operations, and technology to improve adoption, streamline processes, and use data and customer insights to guide continuous improvements.
The SS&M internship is a 10-week long program located in our Chattanooga office. Our program provides an opportunity for interns to gain exposure to different areas of expertise to aid in their career search, experience New York Life's business values and corporate culture, contribute to project work across the organization, and participate in activities to develop and expand their professional skills.
What You'll Do:
As an SS&M intern, you will collaborate with our teams on impactful, forward-thinking projects that drive business growth through creativity and innovation. In this role, you will gain hands-on exposure to strategic initiatives that influence how we engage clients, position our brand, and connect our people.
Within the Digital Product team, you'll see how product managers shape user experiences and deliver new features for our employee and employer portals. You'll have the opportunity to:
Assist in gathering and analyzing portal usage data and customer feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Support the documentation and review of new portal features, including light user testing and feedback analysis.
Contribute to cross-functional projects that enhance the employee and employer digital experience.
Help prepare reporting and presentations that translate data and insights into actionable recommendations for product teams.
What You'll Bring:
You bring excellent written and oral communication skills, a strong desire to learn and identify improvement opportunities, and the ability to think strategically and analytically, inspiring innovation and new ways of working.
Required Skills:
You must be a rising junior pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university
Preferred Skills:
Coursework or interest in business, data analytics, information systems, marketing, or related fields
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate data or feedback into insights
Curiosity about digital experiences and how customer needs shape product design
Analytical mindset with comfort working with data; familiarity with Excel, Power BI, or survey tools a plus
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
Prior internship, project, or campus leadership experience is a plus but not required

Salary range:$21
Overtime eligible:Nonexempt
Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes
Sales bonus eligible:No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
