Bridgewater State University's Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position to begin Fall 2026.With over 500 undergraduate majors, including a significant number of students of color, and two established graduate programs, the Department of Criminal Justice offers a supportive and student-centered environment rooted in the principles of equity, inclusiveness, and social justice. In addition to the long-standing M.S. in Criminal Justice, the department recently launched the innovative M.S. in Cybersecurity and Justice, which prepares students for careers in investigation, digital forensics, compliance, risk management, policy development, and leadership across sectors.

Essential Duties
Bridgewater State University has a 4-4 teaching responsibility (most often implemented with three-course preparation) supported with significant professional development opportunities and guidance. This position seeks an exceptional candidate with a specialization in cybercrime or cybersecurity.The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of criminal justice courses while contributing to the area of cybercrime and/or cybersecurity teaching and learning. Additionally, student advising, service to the department, and working with students on undergraduate and graduate research are essential duties.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Cybersecurity by September 1, 2026. Other closely related fields may be considered. A law degree alone does not meet the requirement for the appropriate terminal degree for this position.Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach both criminal justice courses and cyber-related courses.
Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in teaching higher education, including hybrid and online formats, is preferred. Professional certifications or applied experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, or information security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GCFA, CEH) are also preferred.Preferred areas of expertise include:
- Network Security
- Cyber Threat Intelligence
- Cryptography
- Digital Forensics
- Cyber-Physical Systems Security
- Cloud and IoT Security
- Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity
- Legal, political, and economic issues in Cybersecurity
