Summary:
The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing sports medicine services for the prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. This position will perform both outreach and periodic clinical duties for the sports medicine program including, but not limited to, provision of athletic health care services to assigned schools, evaluation, diagnosis, management, treatment, rehabilitation and intervention of injuries and illness, tracking and reporting of athletic injuries as well as performing clinical duties as assigned.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.

  • Assesses risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion.  

  • Documents all patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).  

  • Coordinates and implement injury prevention programs and customize preventative strategies and programs for each patient. 

  • Minimizes risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies. 

  • Provides accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations. 

  • Communicates with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes. 

  • Administers medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. 

  • Performs administrative and other duties assigned by supervisor.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is medium demand. Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects. Medium strength is required to position patients for examination. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

  • Must be BOC certified and possess state athletic training licensure, certification or registration (Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification). NPI Number Required. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
