Experience the personal challenge of working for a world class organization and leader in the utilities and energy industry as an Automotive and Equipment Mechanic in our Fleet Services Department in Brooklyn, New York.

Key Accountabilities

  • Diagnose, repair and perform preventative maintenance on gasoline / diesel / CNG company fleet vehicles including cars, trucks, construction equipment and auxiliary components in accordance with manufacturers specifications.
  • Able to perform all types of minor, major and overhaul repairs.
  • Conduct state emissions and safety inspections as per state requirements.
  • Knowledgeable operation and safe use of all garage tools and testing equipment.
  • Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs.
  • Adhere to manufacturer's warranty policies and procedures.
  • Shall be consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving problems related to overall fleet maintenance.
  • Will use computerized fleet system to enter all work order data (labor and parts) for vehicle repairs.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school degree/automotive vocational training or equivalent. ASE certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of five years experience as a maintenance technician.
  • Must have ability to diagnose and correct all vehicle systems (including but not limited to: fuel injection, electronic ignition, ABS, CNG, OBDII, electronic engine controls, etc.)
  • Applicant must have an unrestricted license to operate a motor vehicle within New York: issued by the state where he/she resides.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain a valid CDL license and DOT card.
  • Ability to satisfactorily perform clerical duties and utilize a PC as related to fleet mechanic duties.
  • Must be capable of working in areas above, below, in and around vehicles.
  • Must be able to safely operate associated machinery and tools (including but not limited to: power tools, wheel balancer, brake lathe, vehicles, etc.)
  • Must be reliable, neat in appearance and workmanship, willing and able to work extra/irregular hours including shifts, be alert to observing hazards and avoid accidents.
  • Shall have demonstrated the ability and desire to learn and thoroughly understand new equipment and operating methods presented to the department as technology evolves.
  • D.O.T. drug testing is a requirement for this position.

Location: Brookly, NY - Greenpoint
Pay Rate: $49.05 per hour


Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
