Job Description

Job#: 3024307

Job Description:

Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on AWS AI Engineer to support a high‑impact Energy Preparedness Initiative. This team builds systems that help coordinate response efforts during major weather events, outages, and high‑travel emergencies—even across state lines.

A primary focus of this role is developing and expanding our AI‑powered Travel Assistance platform, enabling users to interact through text (and later voice) with intelligent agents that help streamline travel logistics during storms and emergencies. You will work closely with our architecture lead while contributing directly to development, deployment, and scaling of these AI-driven systems.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build meaningful, user‑facing AI tools on AWS—tools that directly impact public safety and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud-based solutions supporting the Energy Preparedness program.
  • Develop AI‑driven conversational agents using AWS Bedrock Agent Core and AWS Connect/Kinesis.
  • Create and optimize text‑based AI travel‑assistance interactions, with future expansion to voice and multimodal experiences.
  • Collaborate with architecture leadership (Rama) to align design with long-term system roadmap.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines within AWS to streamline deployment and automation.
  • Ensure systems remain scalable, secure, and resilient during peak usage (e.g., severe weather events).
  • Work across teams to integrate additional AI initiatives under development.
Required Experience & Skills (Top Must‑Haves)
  1. AWS Connect experience (Note: You mentioned “Kinect”; assuming AWS Connect. If Kinect is correct, I can revise.)
  2. Hands‑on experience with AWS Bedrock Agent Core.
  3. General AWS engineering experience (Lambda, S3, IAM, DynamoDB, API Gateway, etc.).
  4. CI/CD experience within AWS (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudFormation, CDK, etc.).
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
  • Prior experience developing AI applications (LLMs, agent frameworks, prompt engineering, tool integrations).
  • Familiarity with additional AWS AI/ML tools (SageMaker, Kendra, Lex, etc.).
  • Experience supporting emergency response or high‑availability systems.
Years of Experience
  • Flexible — candidates with a couple of successful AWS Connect configurations or comparable hands‑on experience will be considered.
  • Focus is on capability, not strict tenure.
What Makes This Role Exciting
  1. Direct Impact: Your work helps people travel safely and efficiently during emergencies—real-world value with visible outcomes.
  2. Cutting-Edge AI: Opportunity to build next‑generation AI assistants using AWS Bedrock and other advanced AWS AI tools.
  3. Growth & Expansion: This initiative is scaling quickly, with support to expand into voice, multimodal, and additional AI-driven systems.
  4. Strong Technical Leadership: You will work hands‑on while receiving architectural guidance from an experienced leader (Rama).
  5. Innovative Mission: Help modernize emergency preparedness during storms and energy-related events for statewide and out‑of‑state support.
Ideal Candidate Profile

You’re a builder who thrives in hands-on AWS engineering, enjoys experimenting with AI-based tools, and wants to work on systems that help communities during critical moments. You’re comfortable working in the cloud, eager to innovate, and excited about applying AI to real operational problems.
