JOB SUMMARY
The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is accountable to surgically scrub in and help with equipment. Helps the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures is a secondary assignment. Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Helps Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
- Related duties include: preparing and maintaining sterile 1 fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms; monitoring patient's ECG and vital signs while in Catheterization Lab, notifying Physician of variances, and providing emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation, etc.) as needed.
- Performs pre-and post-procedure care. Monitors and orients patients for specials/catheterization procedures.
- Answers related questions to make patient relaxed. Transports patients to and from procedural area.
- Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms.
- Records, enters into data computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis.
- Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self and staff.
- Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies. Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
- Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
- Ability to multi-task and self-manager problem solving skills.
- Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility.

- Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- ACLS (ACLS): Must obtain ACLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
