Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking motivated engineers and scientists to join our research and development design team, which focuses on custom, low-power, low-temperature, RF, analog, and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
Selected candidates will become part of Northrop Grumman's Superconducting Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design team working closely with internal semiconductor foundry.
In this role, you will:
• Contribute your expertise in advanced design techniques and semiconductor manufacturing/testing
• Enhance your task leadership and electromagnetic (EM) simulation skills
• Develop innovative circuits, design techniques, and best practices
• Learn systems-level communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams
You will work closely with design leadership, product owners, fabrication, test, and theory teams to conduct comprehensive experiments and drive our aggressive research and development schedule. All work is performed in a Linux environment using state-of-the-art computer-aided design tools.
This position offers exposure to multiple disciplines and provides the opportunity to expand your skills in several directions based on your interests.
This position requires work on site at Northrop Grumman's Linthicum, MD area facilities.
Basic Qualifications Circuit Design Engineer
• Bachelor of Science STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree with 2 years of experience in RF, Analog, or Mixed Signal Circuit design (1 year with technical MS)
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Experience in custom Integrated Circuit (IC) design or layout in Cadence Virtuoso or similar design automation software in Linux environment
• Strong problem solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills
• Interest in mentoring junior designers
• Able to collaborate with multiple team members and stakeholders to complete assigned tasks
• This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. Citizen
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer's requirements
Preferred Qualifications
• Working knowledge of the IC design flow including schematic capture, simulation, and layout
• 2D and 3D Electromagnetic (EM) modeling experience with commercial tools such as ANSYS (HFSS/Maxwell3D), COMSOL, Momentum, etc.
• Programming experience in Cadence SKILL or Python
• Experience in semiconductor fabrication or test
• Active U.S. Government security clearance
Primary Level Salary Range: $85,400.00 - $128,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
