Job Description:
Our client Is looking for an Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join the team in Winnipeg, Canada. This is a contract position for 12 months with the possibility of extension. This position will work closely with the existing program lead at the site and report to the Environment Health and Safety Manager. The Clinical Exercise Physiologist works with employees to prepare them for physical work tasks and provides coaching on maintaining overall health.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Group Training Job Conditioning Program:
• Experience designing and conducting safe and effective group training programs for up to groups of 8 (2 - 4 classes per day)
• Focusing on strength, mobility, stability, endurance, balance and corrective exercises
• Ensuring program aligns with the company’s industrial athlete best practices
• Facilitating warm-ups, cool-downs, and recovery protocols
• Modifying exercises based on individual limitations or progress
Engaging with Industrial Workers:
• Conducting pre-shift dynamic warm-ups
• Providing education on proper and improper work methods and body mechanics related to performing physical work tasks
• Interacting daily with production teams to create relationships, understand the work, and identify opportunities for coaching on body mechanics
• Providing injury prevention recommendations
• Conducting new hire onboarding
Reporting and Communication:
• Maintaining documentation of group training attendance
• Preparing weekly reports summarizing participation, improvements, and any concerns
• Participating in regular check-ins with the Program Lead
• Customizing group training curriculum aligned with job-specific demands
• Creating injury prevention and self-care educational materials
• Entering data
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3+ years Clinical Exercise Physiologist
• Must hold a CSEP-CEP certification
• Must be a member of the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology
• Must have experience designing and delivering group conditioning programs
• Must be comfortable coaching groups of 8 people and up to 4 group classes per day
• Sound knowledge in body mechanics
• Strong functional movement training background and sound knowledge in corrective exercises
• Strong resistance training background
• Must be able to effectively instruct workers on proper exercise form and technique, and provide effective regressions and progressions as needed
• Must be able to physical demonstrate, proper form and technique
• Ability to adapt within a fast pace changing environment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workout environment
• Provide exceptional customer service and support to clients
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working with industrial or physically demanding occupations
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• Experience working with the Deaf community (added)
• Progressive knowledge in the field of Athletic Therapy
• Functional Movement Screen certification
• Experience with creating wellness programs
• Understanding of functional foot mechanic and corrective exercises
• Neurokinetic therapy training
Work Schedule and Hours /availability:
• Monday – Friday
• Part time (Up to 29 hours)
• Flexibility to work various shifts including early mornings, and evenings (predominately evening shift)
• On-site presence required
