Web Developer (Squarespace + SEO)

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Web Developer with expertise in Squarespace and SEO to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing & developing website templates in Squarespace that not only look great but also perform well in search engines, driving traffic and engagement.

This is a fully remote, 20 hour/week freelance opportunity with a duration of 12 weeks (subject to change). This person will have a flexible schedule, but must be available during Central time business hours for weekly stand-up meetings. It's preferred that this candidate has their own computer equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and design on-brand website templates for small-size microsites using Squarespace.
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve website visibility and search rankings, and ensure consistent standards of SEO.
  • Perform regular tests on website SEO rankings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical SEO issues as they arise.
  • Utilize HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to enhance website functionality and user experience.
  • Integrate and manage the Squarespace content management system (CMS) effectively. There are also a few WordPress sites that need to be converted over to Squarespace.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of front-end development and web design experience in Squarespace.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
  • An understanding of branding and best practices on web templates.
  • Experience with website architecture and user experience design.
  • A degree in computer science, programming, or web development is preferred.
  • Certifications in SEO or Google Analytics are preferred.
