The Community Relations Intern will play a key role in enhancing the MAC's relationships with community members and stakeholders by documenting and analyzing aircraft noise complaints, evaluating aircraft operations and sound data, and identifying and presenting data trend findings. The Community Relations Intern will gain essential skills in community engagement by listening and being responsive to community members, communicating complaint investigation findings, and working with staff to address community members' concerns. This position requires working some weekday evenings.

- Support the noise complaint system by documenting and responding to emails, phone calls, website inquiries and letters related to aircraft operations, aircraft noise and other community-related topics.
- Conduct spatial analyses and prepare written and verbal responses to aircraft noise concerns.
- Listen to and educate community members about aircraft noise, airport operations and planning; communicate the positive community and economic impact of aviation, particularly the role of MAC's seven airports in the twin cities.
- Support the preparation of website and other written content to share information pertaining to community-related topics and ensure technical information is effectively communicated.
- Plan, communicate and execute outreach activities and events in support of MAC's airports.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in or graduated within the last 12 months from an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Aviation, Communications, Data Management, Environmental Science, Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Public Policy, or related degree.
- Experience using Microsoft office software, e.g., Word, PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to attend occasional weekday evening meetings.
- Reliable vehicle to commute between job sites.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to query data using SQL
- Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
- Ability to perform basic statistical analyses, create charts and effectively communicate complex topics.
- Ability and experience presenting technical information in public settings.
