Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
To collect, integrate, and analyze technical data on specific plant machinery, systems, or processes, and recommend appropriate maintenance and/or operational actions. Work with plant team leaders, planners, system owners, equipment owners, and supporting Southern Company Technical Services Teams, to put the best Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) technologies in place. Ensure accurate condition assessments on equipment. Make independent repair/replace decisions based on integration and analysis of data and other pertinent information. Effectively document all pertinent information, findings, and recommendations in Maximo (multiple applications). Champion all Continuous Monitoring initiatives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Work Experience
- Five years industrial plant work experience required
- CBM, Operations and/or Maintenance power plant experience preferred
- Two-year technical degree preferred
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of power plant fundamentals
- Proficient in computer usage, including OIS, CBM tools, Excel, and Word
- Ability to access and effectively use Maximo processes, including CBM routes, Maintenance Strategy and equipment data, and purchasing applications
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work with a wide range of electronic field equipment and tools
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Thorough understanding of Plant Systems, including their function in the generation process
- Ability to analyze and trend data for the purpose of determining recommended maintenance actions, current condition of equipment, and failure analysis
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete and maintain all CBM Certification requirements in accordance with SCG Requirements.
- Regularly acquire and analyze vibration, oil analysis, infrared thermography, and motor current data on plant equipment; use Predictive Maintenance technologies as well as other condition-indicators such as performance data, Operator Rounds data, PM results and work order history to evaluate and diagnose maintenance needs.
- Implement/maintain data collection, trending, and diagnostics as specified in the applicable Maintenance Strategy documents.
- Work with employees during equipment tear down and repairs to inspect condition and to evaluate the success of rework/repairs.
- Establish an ongoing relationship with key vendors; gather and analyze acceptance data on new/rebuilt equipment.
- Research to stay informed of latest technology developments; participate in CBM user groups and communicate with other CBM personnel to share information and expertise.
- Leverage SCG-Technical Services expertise and resources to greatest benefit.
- Be available for CBM on-call duties per the on-call schedule
- Promote safety through full compliance with safety, environmental, housekeeping and OSHA requirements
