The role:
Do you have engineering or surveying experience? Have you performed highway construction project inspection work? Then this might be the position for you! Join our team as a construction inspector 4, where you will perform routine field construction inspection and office work for various transportation construction and maintenance projects. A day in the life:
Inspect moderate to high complexity construction projects.
Perform routine engineering calculations using calculators or computer programs to determine project quantities.
Enforce contractor compliance to plans and specifications.
Submit and manage project documentation using digital document management system per agency guidelines and requirements.
Assist with preconstruction meetings and understand and monitor contractor’s schedules.
Recommend the acceptance or rejection of construction materials for quantity, quality and conformance to applicable specifications.
Review the preliminary and advance plans and specifications during project development.
Work as a member of a survey team performing location, construction and right of way surveying.
Record accurate field notes and project records.
Monitor safety issues and take appropriate action when there is a problem.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions over half of the time with long/flexible hours required. Work involves lifting and carrying equipment of up to 50 pounds, stooping, bending, climbing ladders and working on construction sites.

Minimum qualifications:
Four years of para-professional engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group;
OR
An associate's degree in engineering technology or surveying from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering AND two and one-half years of engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group;
OR
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying, or transportation-related engineering AND one year civil engineering or surveying experience;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
