New York Life is seeking a Manager of the Volunteers for Good (VfG) Program to lead our national employee and agent volunteer initiative. This role is a core part of our Corporate Responsibility strategy, engaging over 200 volunteer coordinators across 100+ offices to activate community partnerships, nonprofit collaboration, and purpose-driven programs.


You will lead the day-to-day management of VfG operations, oversee key national volunteer campaigns, develop training and recognition systems for field coordinators, and support field-aligned strategic engagement efforts. This highly visible role requires strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills.

What You'll Do:

Volunteer Program Management

  • Serve as the lead for the Volunteer for Good (VfG) network, spanning 100+ offices and 200+ coordinators, ensuring consistent and meaningful volunteer experiences.
  • Develop toolkits, standardized procedures, and onboarding/training resources for volunteer coordinators.
  • Lead the planning and execution of signature campaigns such as Month of Service, Season of Giving, and Volunteer Recognition initiatives.
  • Organize and host the annual Volunteer Coordinator Conference.
  • Support volunteer engagement opportunities at national field meetings and corporate events.
  • Administer the Volunteer Grants Program, including individual, team, disaster, and Acts of Kindness initiatives.
  • Track participation, campaign outcomes, and program effectiveness through CSRconnect/YourCause.
  • Conduct annual audits, quarterly reviews, and oversee site-level budget reconciliations.

Strategic Engagement & Partnerships

  • Facilitate partnerships between nonprofit grantees and local field offices.
  • Coordinate local engagement pilots and evaluate measurable impact.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation and internal stakeholders to scale regional engagement.
  • Manage vendor relationships and special projects tied to engagement programming.
  • Plan and oversee volunteer opportunities at field meetings, including large-scale projects, with responsibility for preparation, onsite coordination, and travel as needed.

Recognition & Reporting

  • Design and manage a formal recognition program for VfG coordinators, including incentive structures and KPIs.
  • Deliver quarterly and annual reports, executive updates, and campaign summaries.
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and evolve volunteer engagement strategies using data and feedback.

What You'll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in volunteer program management, community engagement, or corporate social responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience managing field coordinator networks or peer-based volunteer programs.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with internal teams and nonprofit partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Blackbaud, YourCause, or CSRconnect is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with budget reconciliation and campaign logistics preferred.
  • Passion for social impact, volunteerism, and fostering a culture of service.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:$79,000-$113,000

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes

Sales bonus eligible:No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
