Summary:
The Environmental Services Custodian/Floor Aide assists with the cleaning and maintaining of all floors and carpets in the hospital. In addition, this person will be actively participating in the daily removal of all waste, i.e., municipal A, hazardous and medical, along with the transporting of soiled linens. This is accomplished in accordance with established schedules, technical and administrative policies/procedures. Performs other duties which include, but are not limited to restocking of supplies, daily cleaning, vacuuming, disinfecting and other assigned projects. The goal is to provide quality service to every patient, every time.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs daily cleaning in assigned areas using proper chemicals, correct mixtures and equipment operation procedures.
2. Maintains and cares for workplace and assigned equipment.
3. Responds to all requests in a timely manner.
4. Assists in maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive and orderly facility.
5. Inspects and evaluates their personal work and makes improvements as needed.
6. Keeps supervisor or appropriate individual informed regarding any needed supplies or equipment issues.
7. Maintains a positive attitude while engaging with all contacts within the hospital.
8. Supports the "team" approach, within the department and within the hospital.
9. Follows written and oral instructions.

Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification
A certification in Floor Care and/or Carpet Care preferred, but not mandatory.
Experience
At least one year in environmental services or housekeeping experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Good customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office.
• Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift.
Valid NC Driver’s License: No
If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
