The Director will work closely with business and technology teams to translate requirements into practical solutions, strengthen data quality, and implement best practices across the organization. This is a highly collaborative role, working alongside engineering peers and leadership, to shape how the company leverages data.
What You Will Do
Governance & Architecture
- Define and enforce data modeling and architecture standards across platforms and projects.
- Govern functional and non-functional requirements to ensure scalability, performance, and security.
- Document data models, pipelines, transformation logic, and integrations.
- Manage and monitor data security and access in alignment with enterprise policies.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into data models and platform capabilities.
Data Engineering & Modeling
- Design, implement, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, and other tools.
- Transform raw data into structured tables, star schemas, and reporting models.
- Build and manage enterprise data warehouses and lakehouse environments.
- Ingest, cleanse, and transform data from multiple SaaS and operational systems.
- Work with semi-structured data (CSV, JSON, Parquet, XML) and ensure lineage, quality, and integrity.
- Support schema evolution, metadata management, and automation of workflows.
- Enable reporting and analytics through semantic layers and Power BI models.
Platform Operations & Enablement
- Enhance and monitor existing data models, pipelines, and performance SLAs.
- Support validation, reconciliation, and migration for integrations and rollouts.
- Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and training to analysts and report developers.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for data engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with business users and engineers to support operational and strategic projects.
- Continuously identify opportunities for advanced analytics and efficiency improvements.
Other
- Occasional travel may be necessary as needed
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of this role with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ideally, You'll Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or analytics modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, and Power BI.
- Strong SQL and Python (PySpark) proficiency.
- Deep understanding of data transformation, pipelines, and schema design (star, snowflake, dimensional modeling, CDC/SCD2).
- Experience building/managing data warehouses and lakehouse environments.
- Familiarity with real estate/multifamily housing data domains (preferred).
- Ability to work with multiple formats (CSV, JSON, Parquet, XML) and API-based data ingestion.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, “in-the-weeds” environment.
You'll crush it if you have experience with
- Driving multifamily housing or real estate data solutions.
