The role:

AI/ML engineer – failure analysis solutions

As an AI/ML engineer for failure analysis solutions, you are responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI-powered solutions that will enhance hardware failure analysis. The daily tasks will be focused on creating generic AI tools that improve efficiency, accuracy, and knowledge transfer in root cause analysis and reliability engineering. This role requires a strong foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data engineering, combined with a practical understanding of failure analysis processes in hardware and manufacturing environments.


Key Responsibilities

AI Tool Development: Design and implement AI/ML-based frameworks to analyze complex failure data (e.g. images, test logs, reliability metrics).

Efficiency & Accuracy Improvement: Automate repetitive analysis tasks, standardize evaluations, and build models that reduce human error in failure diagnostics.

Knowledge Transfer: Develop AI-driven knowledge management systems that capture, structure, and recommend past learning for future failure cases.

Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers, reliability experts, and IT teams to integrate AI tools into existing workflows and analysis platforms.

Data Pipeline Management: Establish processes for data collection, cleaning, labeling, and management to ensure robust training datasets.

Continuous Improvement: Monitor tool performance, collect user feedback, and iterate solutions for scalability and adaptability across different product lines.

Research & Innovation: Stay current with advancements in AI/ML, failure analysis methodologies, and knowledge management systems, and apply them to business needs.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Data Science, or related field


Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)

Strong background in natural language processing and computer vision

Experience with data engineering, feature extraction, and model deployment

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) for AI model deployment is a plus.

Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with failure analysis, reliability engineering, or materials testing methods preferred

Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to translate technical findings into practical tools for engineers


Preferred Experience

Have some familiarity with the domain knowledge: Familiarity with failure analysis, reliability engineering, or materials testing methods preferred

Prior experience developing AI/ML applications in manufacturing, semiconductor, or hardware reliability domains

Exposure to expert systems, recommendation engines, or knowledge graph development.

Experience working with data from microscopy, X-ray, Scanning Electron Microscopy, or reliability testing instruments
