Dental Assistant II-Christown
Job Description
This position is responsible for performing procedures allowable according to Arizona State Dental Laws and assisting the dental provider in providing dental care to patients. The Dental Assistant II position ensures the proper sterilization of equipment for dental provider use and provides patients information regarding treatment, scheduling, and insurance authorization.
Essential Functions
- Assists dental provider and hygienists in the delivery of dental related services.
- Performs routine radiographic imaging as required by the AZ Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Certificate.
- Performs child/adult prophylaxis, fluoride treatment, and dental sealants as required by the Arizona Coronal Polishing (CP) Certificate.
- Provides historical reference by accurately and efficiently recording treatment, accurately coding charges for services, preparing treatment plans on dental charts, and entering progress notes/treatment plans in patient’s file.
- Provides information to patients by relaying information, instructions, directions and/or consent, to patients, parents, or guardian, regarding treatment, at the direction of the dentists and hygienists. Instructs patients and parents in oral hygiene and accurately communicates treatment plans and fees to patients.
- Prepares and maintains all dental trays and instruments.
- Completes the Instrument Processing: Level 2 Competency.
- Upkeeps the sterilization/cleanliness and inventory of dental equipment.
- Picks up, delivers, and communicates regarding the status of dental laboratory cases.
- Collaborates with dental back office and front office team members to ensure quality patient care.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs Other duties as required.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Dental Assistant Certificate.
- AZ Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Certificate.
- Arizona Coronal Polishing (CP) Certificate.
- Current CPR Certification.
